It provides fans of the plane to fly one of the most popular aircraft out there for civilians in a professional, modern recreation of the DA40 model. The idea behind this is to provide Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D series’ with more detail than ever before, by adding more planes to pick from for users
If you are growing a little tired of the usual planes that you fly, why not give the DA40 a shot up in the skies? The realistic feel and pace of the model provided with this download will give you a thoroughly authentic and enjoyable representation of the flight models used in real life. Being able to take the Diamond DA40 on any particular destination that you wish is very liberating, and can really leave you with a lasting impression of just why it’s so well liked in real life.
The Diamond DA40
Austrian built and coming with four seats, the Diamond DA40 has been commonly used for quite some time now. It’s built entire from composite materials, and uses a single engine. It’s mainly used in both Austria and Canada, and is one of the main product brands that the Diamond Aircraft Industries provides its users with. It’s got skill, charisma and style in abundance and is one of the best FS add-on that you can find.
These cost roughly $340,000 to make each in real life, and stand as stunning light aircraft. The first model was commissioned in 1997, and it’s based on the DA20 aircraft that came before it. Its tricycle landing gear gives it balance and safety when it touches down after taking off, and its main feature is the speed and efficiency of which it can handle the air and the sky.
It’s widely recognized as one of the safest planes in the sky by some margin, with a fatal accident rate of just 0.35/100,000 hours. Considering that some of the most popular rivals like the Cirrus SR20 comes with a rate of 1.6/100,000 hours, you can bank on the Diamond DA40 staying high up on the safety steaks for some time yet.
Features
One of the most striking features that you can find when using simulation software is just how close to the real thing they can get. This virtual representation of the Diamond DA40 covers a huge array of the aspects that make the plane so wonderful in the first place. The models come with Vision Microsystems VM 1000 Engine Instruments. This gives you the real feel of the engine monitoring systems used within the actual plane.
The Diamond DA40 is well recognized for the striking shine that it gives off in the air. The materials used to build and color the plane reflect the light very well, and this recreation captures that absolutely perfectly. Superb material shines and reflections. The gages have also been fitted in to include the reflections, so that you get the closest experience you can.
The view from inside the 3D cockpit is better than ever, with a realistic panel in front of you. Should you choose to fly with the side-view, or use it regularly, then you will notice the popped view that you receive. This lets you see everything as clearly as you can in the real thing, which is recognized for the clear view from the pilot’s area.
The little details have been included, too. With extras like blade shines and window scratches added to make the plane as close to the real thing as possible, the high-quality textures used on the models stretch the games graphical prowess to the limit. Every spoiler and add-on thought of has been included in the design of this remake of the popular Diamond DA40.
Should you want to create your own design, then you can. You get a free blank model that comes completely bare to allow you to add the colors, style and spoilers that fit your own ambitions and ideas. With the physics of the plane just right, as well as a balance and realism in the behavior of the plane itself, you can get the real experience. It will be just like you owned the real thing!
When you download this package, you get a variety of extra reference material and guides for understanding the real mechanics of the plane. Authenticity is so important when using simulation software, and with this you will get everything including the normal and emergency procedure PDFs that you need to fully understand how to manage the plan to a reference PDF for further reading. Everything you need to learn how to successfully fly one of these planes within both FSX and P3D is included in the package.
You also receive five HD liveries with your purchase, along with a blank texture as mentioned above. In total, you get the full package and you can easily upgrade your simulation experience with this package. It leaves you with far more extensive access to a Diamond DA40 than anything else can provide you with, other than an actual plane itself.

I had some difficulties to install it on Prepar3D with the installation program (error while writing files). To bypass this error, there are 2 steps to follow : 1) Make new folders and subfolders at the root of your drive, following the error description (for example, if it specifies that it can't write the file /SimObjects/AirCraft/xxxx.cfg, create a new folder called "SimObjects" at the root of your drive (C: by default) and a subfolder "AirCraft" in it). When you click on "Retry", you'll get an error for a new file. Do the same thing ! (can be long...) 2) Copy the folders created in your Prepar3D folder.
Despite this installation probem, the aircraft is great !

Very disappointed that they decided to offer this aircraft model with old steam gauges. I am training on G1000 with GFC700 autopilot in my actual DA40 and I was eager awaiting this version for a detailed DA40 simulator I'm building at home, but then learned that they ignored modern versions of the DA40. I sure hope they bring out a G1000 version. I'd gladly pay twice the price for that version! The G1000 appeared in the DA40 in 2007 and Diamond never looked back. Steam gauges are on the way out. Period. They don't provide nearly the situational awareness or level of safety that the glass panels of modern aircraft provide.

I am very happy with this. Been waiting for a DA40 model with steam gauges and GNS430 for a while. Better than the other DA40 models I have seen for FSX, and perfect because it matches the plane I fly pretty closely. You will find a number of steam gauge DA40s out there, at flight schools and for rent. They have better weight capabilities than the G1000 version. The visual detail on this model is excellent. A couple of little quirks but nothing too drastic. Would recommend to fellow pilots

Love the D40 ! It works as good as the real one ! Fast and easy to integrate to Steam FSX and to P3D 4.5 as well. Very detailed cockpit and smooth. Petty the lack of the G1000 version !

Flies just about as good as the real thing for a flight sim. I'm kind of disappointed that here was no version with a G1000 included but overall it's a really nice plane
