Designed for FSX, this is a representation of the Avro 504K, which is without a doubt one of the most famous names in aircraft history. It was used en masse during the First World War, and was made from 1913-1934. In that time, 8,970 were created and used by the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service. This addition to your FSX hangar brings a fully detailed and authentic remake of one of the most commonly used and popular planes in all of aviation history. It used an 80HP engine with seven cylinders, and it was used in a wide variety of different capacities such as training new pilots, as well as both fighting in the air and bombing rungs. They were first created before the war, and were first used in the War when they flew to France to assist. Without a doubt, this is one of the biggest names in the entire history of flying and paved the way for many new generations of planes to come along.
About The Avro 504K
The Avro 504K was actually the first plane ever used in a planned aerial bombing run, when they hit a German Zeppelin shed in the name of the Royal Naval Air Service. It was its speed as well as its accuracy from the air that made it so useful, often used as a way to strafe infantry engagements from the air using the high-powered firepower that they brought from the skies. Therefore, the aircraft quickly established itself as a key part of the air and land battles in the First World War.
Although it didn’t last as a long-term war aircraft, it was an effective trainer for getting pilots used to flying a more “rigid” plane before moving into easier to fly, more modern equivalents. By the 1930s it was slowly being phased out in favor of the more robust DH Tiger Moth. Its final run as a plane type that was commonly used was as a trainer, until it was replaced by the Avro Trainer in 1933, spelling the end of one of the most historical aircrafts ever made.
The plane was then turned into a civil model that was regularly used after the war, as well, and today they are on sale in many collectors’ auctions. More than 300 504Ks were sold as civil products to the public in the years after the war, and they have been used for exhibitions and banner towing for many years. Even today, you still see the odd 504K in the sky as it flies around with a big banner on the back promoting something!
