Just Some of the Missions
The Waldo Canyon Fire
One of the most common missions to undertake in this mission set is that of the Colorado Waldo Canyon Fire. Fires on this part of the world are quite commonplace and you will be expected to fly in as a DC3 fire retardant pilot and help out the Air Force tanker droppers. The fire here is pretty wild so you will need to be quick to catch it all at once!
The Devil’s Tower
Emergency situations can be a lot of fun to be involved with, and here you will be dealing with the Devils Tower, Wyoming. You will be expected to put out a derailed train wreck which has caught fire near a small town. The challenge here is to get your accuracy spot on as you have limited control – the fire is also more challenging than usual, so you have to be spot on!
Grand Can Fire
Another popular part of this selection has been the practice mission for the DC-3, with crash detection on. You will be expected to deal with high winds and various other logistical nightmares around the Grand Canyon national park. You will be expected to try and get used to the various factors provided in this mod.
Eureka Fire
A really popular training mission which has ben included is that of the Eureka, California. A massive fire has broken out here so you need to fly in and deal with the issue – you can do this in your favorite aircraft, too; you just need to swap the files out if you decide to use this mod in this way. However, please note that unofficial aircraft can struggle with the changes and flight dynamic alterations cannot be accounted for here.
Smokejumper Halo
A great choice for those who like something a bit more advanced, though, is that of the Smokejumper Halo. This mission has you flying in at high altitude and then dropped in over Mt. Rushmore. Fires are spreading quick and you need to plant a beacon to help other firefighters know where to come to provide assistance. After this, you will be expected to make it back – on foot, through the raging fires – to the Huey. This is a huge challenge but most importantly it’s a massive departure from the typical FSX mission style.
Outback Blazing
Another great selection for those who want to help improve their position comes from the outback blazing mission. This sets you off in Australia as you need to deal with five heavy fires ripping through Canberra. Get to work fast and you will need to give every fire that has started a triple dose of water to get rid of it! A huge challenge but one that you can really enjoy if you like missions with a high tempo position and lots to work out moving forward.
Smokejumper Insertions
One of the best missions to undertake for those who love danger, this mission has you dropping at the Yellow Stone Inn to deal with forest fires which are ripping through at a ferocious pace. You need to make your way through here on a floating runway barge and load up the red fire retardant. Then, you have to go and engage with the fire so that the ground teams can deal with the flames down below – its tough work to get this one down to a T, but it’s a hugely rewarding mission if you do manage to pull it off successfully!
The Devil’s Tower Party
In this part of Devil’s Tower, Wyoming, you will be expected to deal with a bit of relaxation for once! Come here and enjoy a live party with various other pilots, with a free flight option letting you all just hang out and celebrate your hard work.
Grand Canyon Blazes
With arid conditions and poor visibility, seeing your way through this can be a huge challenge. You will be dealing up with up to ten fires as you go, ensuring that you are dealing with the Grand Canyon in an adequate manner – you’ll have just two hours to handle the blazes, located on both parts of the canyon. It’s a tough mission, but one that will really help you become the best firefighting pilot that you can!
