Pitts S-2S for FSX/Prepar3D
2 reviewsAlabeo have developed a wonderful rendition of the Pitts Special-2S, for use with both Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D. After it's first flight in 1944, this light aerobatic biplane dominated competitions in the 60's and 70's, and is still a strong contender to this day. This variant, built with a heavier 260hp engine, makes a great debut to the virtual environments of our beloved flight simulators, thanks to the hard work and attention to detail that Alabeo never fail to deliver. At first glance, it is clear to see that the model is of a very high quality, but it is not until you look closely that you see just how detailed is. Considering this aircraft spends a lot of time upside down, or at least not in a traditional flying position, it is nice to know that detail of the model is consistent all the way around; whether you're taxiing down the runway or in a spectacular tail spin, this model looks fantastic. Helped, of course, by the top quality textures that are completely void of imperfections, and boasting gorgeous shines and reflections that react to different lighting conditions as in real life. It's especially enjoyable to see this fun aircraft donning one of your own repaints that you can create using the included blank texture.
Every moving part shows the same amount of polish as seen on the rest of this Pitts S-2S. Aileron, rudder and elevator animations are consistently smooth and the propeller effect works in conjunction with the engine speed, which makes stunt flying feel even more authentic.
While some ace pilots may already be familiar with the steps required to pull off exciting stunts in an aircraft like this, this may be the first time for some. So Alabeo have included a detailed aerobatics maneuvers PDF to ensure that everybody can tackle these challenging moves and with time, master them. Before long you'll be entering competitions yourself and going for gold every time. While flying the Pitts S-2S, you'll find that the custom smoke effect can really add a lot to your visual experience. The first time you see that smoke trailing behind you as you push through high g-force turns, you'll be hooked.
The first aircraft out of the Alabeo hangar is the stunning Pitts S-2S for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D. With many great features and the option of blank textures so that you may paint the aircraft yourself, this package will certainly impress.
This edition also comes packed with free additional liveries.

Review
However this exterior model is where this model really starts to shine. If you excuse the pun. It is simply amazing if you are looking for a good exterior model you have found one here - the Carneado and Alabeo skills have obviously been spent on the exterior of this model trying to make it better than the rest.
The textures are of good quality across the board with not one of them being at all pixleated at close zoom, this as well as the realistic shine that this aircraft seems to have on it really makes this one of the best exterior models that I have seen in a long time - If i was to compare it to anything it would have to the be the Carenado T210 with the shine integrated.
All the animations of the elevator, ailerons and rudder are all bug free and smooth. With the propeller animation that actually works in conjunction with the speed of the engine. Comparing this to the real aircraft design it is very similar almost like for like. Maybe too much time was spent on the outside of the plane instead of the rest of the aircraft?

ok, this is my first review on paid add on. I am not a full scale pilot but I fly radio control plane. one of my favorit is Byron 1/3 scale r/c plane.( i have few of them ). I am using flight sim on and off for about 30 some years. recently I discover VR....and I am not going back to sitting in front of the computer screen and fly sim any more in the traditional way. so this is my set up : FSX , OCULUS RIFT,THRUSTMASTER ( HOTAS WARTHOG STICK AND THROTTLE ) ,AND THRUSTMASTER PEDALS. at the beginning of using your product I was straggling on takeoff ,even on taxing ... its a pitt's no ? .... it took me few attemps till finally I got it.I enjoy it all the way around. looks great ,fly very realistic . very sensitive on the roll rate as the real one ( as I was told.) exlant tutch and go plane for practice. the price for the product is fair. Detailed aerobatics maneuvers PDF. is missing in my down load .( PLEAS ADVISE ). I also purchased the wing of silver piper j-3 cub, for fsx. didn't try it yet. if any Q can contact me at : igoren@aol.com

all in all not disappointing for the price. Definitely lives up to its reputation as one of the most difficult aircraft next to the old ME-262 to land. hell ground operations alone in this taildragger will improve upon your cornering turns to verify no traffic ahead of you. The only gripe I have is sound..... for a 260 hp high performance aerobatic engine.... it sure sounds an awful lot ( identical actually) to the standard Cessna 172 sound package, when the 2 sound NOTHING alike in real life. Other than that, it is a fun bird to hone aerobatic skills and stick n rudder flying.
