F-14 Extended for FSX/P3D

Whilst most people are used to the F-16, the F-14 was at one stage considered to be the shark of the skies; deadly, fast, somehow silent and exceptionally powerful beyond all normal means of the era.

It was the main aim of the US Military to start reducing numbers whilst improving efficiency; the F-14 was the exact way to do just this. It’s supreme command of the skies and, at the time, unrivaled ability ensures that it was part of the USAF for many years to come.

Now, you can hop into the most realistic recreation there is of this stunning project. If you are willing to try and keep up the pace, this is the perfect product to let you do so!

What’s Included?

• In this package, you get access to three awesome generations of this aircraft. You’ll be provided with fully regenerated equivalents of the A model F-14. Additionally, you’ll be provided with a more refined equivalent of the B model – giving you unrivaled choice!

• A whole new level of engine management has been created to capture the depth and feeling of the aircraft in a whole new way. With these engine management tools, you can stay in control of your aircraft with ease when you’re moving forward.

• Unique visual systems that will ensure you can continue to move forward and see the world around you as you fly, boosting both information and vision when in the sky.

• Flight systems which have been worked from scratch to give you a much more powerful aircraft in so many different ways, helping you truly understand how the F-14 really works.

Virtual Systems

• New HUD systems included for both A & B models – the A models will make use of the vintage, projected windscreen style HUD that is the most common style. The B models, though, use the Sparrow Hawk model complete with an integrated combiner.

• However, both models will make use of the All Flight & Steering modes, respectively, complete with CCIP. This shows both TACAN and ILS symbology.

• Vertical Display Indicators are included to give you a much better way to understand attitude adjustments, complete with both ground and sky textures.

• Horizontal Situation Displays are used to help you understand steering symbols, with TACAN, CRS and ADF.

• Detailed Data Displays created to show you how to control and manipulated raw radar data as well as range-rates.

• Tactical Information Displays will present you with radar targets in a computer generated, clutter-free style which is much easier to use and adhere to.

• Radar Warning Receivers are added in to help you see both ground and sea-based radar emitters.

• AWG-9 radars, with eight unique modes of operation and an adjustable azimuth scan, ranging from 5-200nm.

• Every display utilizes the F-14A type of design, ensuring that you can get the most authentic design possible.

Engine Management Systems

• This comes complete with compressor stallers so that you cannot manage your aircraft as an amateur; you’ll need to get to grips fast or face flat spins! The algorithms behind what creates these are made to be as complex as possible, ensuring they take into account as many factors as they can.

• Compressor stallers also occur when you use them on the throttle, as rapid throttle movements when in IDLE will cause compressors to stall.

• Mach levelers are designed to offer ease of use during aerial combat, thanks to the automatic increase of Engine IDLE RPM when you reach high AoA to try and reduce exposure to stalls.

• Engine fires can also occur when hot starts and compressor stalls occur in the wrong manner they can cause the fuel to go into the combustion changer without any thrust being created. This can cause the blades in the engine to melt if the transient temperature limit is exceeded.

• Sump tanks are designed to help utilize the turbines, and this will hold up to 600lbs of fuel. The higher the thrust and the range of negative G maneuvers, and you’ll burn through this in no time!

Flight Systems

• These systems makes use of a complete wing-sweep implementation, ensuring that you can utilize it during all four modes lf operation. The automatic model will ensure it uses the right sweep angle to ensure you are always in the right place.

• Maneuver flaps are included also, controllable by yourself or automatically. Likewise, Glove Vanes are included to ensure that seep angles greater than 25” and high Mach is dealt with accordingly.

• Approaching Auto Throttle ensures that your aircraft can be landed with ease in comparison to its usual challenging self, maintaining the aircraft at an optimum AoA level.

• Direct lift controls are included to ensure you can use inboard spoilers to adjust your AoA if need be.

• When your aircraft is armed, it makes use of Ground Roll AeroBrake packages to extend the weight on wheel and throttles at Idle.

• A mini-HUD package has been included, giving you optional 2D gauges to ensure you have even more information on hand as you fly.

Auto-Flight Control Systems

• The new auto-flight control system has been managed and controlled in such a manner that it provides you with three channel passive Stability Augmentation Systems. With pilot input and control surface deflection rates reduced, you’ll have better control than normal.

• This is also balanced by the use of the Aileron-Rudder interconnection, using NASA source documentation to ensure it’s solid. This is also covered by the Vector model which follows up a loaded flight plan.

• Auto carrier landing systems are used also, combining with autothrottle to ensure landing is made hands-free!

Fresh Flight Mechanics

• This has been tested fully by professional F-14 pilots to ensure it has unique accuracy and greater levels of control than ever before, and a software engineer who was involved with F-14 simulations professionally was also involved within testing. Performance, control, and response have all been sourced and matched using NASA’ own technical archives.

• The flat spin issue from the aircraft has been recreated perfectly, giving you an easy way to get to grips with the ‘Hoser’ spin recovery method.

• SimConnect will enable the Axis Manager to precisely set your aircraft’ lift, based on the configuration of the six lift devices – Glove Vanes, Spoilers, Slats, Flaps and Wing Sweeps.

• Separate control outputs for the Stabilator and the spoilerons, as well as authentic catapult launch speeds on all carriers using trap physics to recover.

AI Programming

• The AI has been programmed to be better than ever before, with an in-sim menu allowing you to spawn NPC aircraft as well as randomly generated scenarios which will provide you with anything you wish to do when near a carrier’ TACAN signal.

• This includes things such as radar interception, escorts, wandering pilots, random missions and even Tanks for when your tank is running low!

Misc.

• Aside from everything else which has been included in this unique package, you’ll get access to the brilliant USS Kitty Hawk CV-63. This model provides you with the best Fresnel Lens Optical Landing System (built from the beginning) which can be used and applied to any naval aircraft system.

• This is improved by coming fully equipped with 11 moving carrier tracks from around the world, which are built locations of key historical significance. Every track has a saved flight which you can use to load directly onto the moving carrier system, making it much easier to operate.

• You’ll also get access to the USS Jarrett and USS Vandergrift, created by the excellent Alberto Garcia. Included alongside this is the USNS Patuxent by Javier Fernandez, and you’ll also get the option to use the excellent DeltaSim DDG to substitute the appropriate Destroyer into the CTF system.

• You’ll also get options to drive up front, or scan the skies using the excellent RIO seat to give yourself a greater awareness of what’s out there.

• Payload management is made easier using the Payload Manager, complete with Checklists to keep you fully up-to-date on what you have to include.

• An Approach Rating system which has been created to show you how easy it is to evaluate the pilot's position, as well as how correct the visual approach is.

• Start-up with the way you want thanks to the F-14’ loading state memory tool using the Sim Start Options features included.
