Cessna 172RG Cutlass II for X-Plane

Alabeo are one of those teams of bright sparks that consistently deliver really high quality packages for our favorite simulators, allowing us to keep getting more and more out of one piece of software. This time, it's a wonderful replica of the Cessna 172RG Cutlass II for X-Plane. It might seem like we see a lot of Cessna models from various development teams, but there have been more Cessna 172's built than any other aircraft, so it stands to reason that we see a fair few variants hit the marketplace.

If you're not familiar with the Cessna 172, it's a four seater, single engine utility aircraft with a high fixed wing design. It has a very recognizable and attractive silhouette and is considered to be perhaps the most successful aircraft in history, for good reason.

Alabeos model of the 172RG Cutlass II looks amazing, and shouldn't cause you any performance issues, as the model has been well optimized to keep your frame rates up, and the same holds true for the interior of the aircraft.

Not only is the model working to keep your performance high, but so are the textures. Alabeo have utilized DDS (DirectDraw Surface) textures, so that high definition textures can be decompressed by your GPU, which saves unnecessary load on your CPU and also can improve on your loading times.

In spite of this 172RG Cutlass II not threatening your performance, you still get to enjoy the beautiful material shines and reflections, dynamic propeller shines and volumetric propeller effects that help make a top quality package.

There are a few small quality-of-life additions in this package, including scroll wheel support; you don't need to worry about the hassle of clicking and dragging a tiny element in the cockpit, when you can simply use the scroll wheel, which I find is more accurate.

While the model and default textures look great, those of you that have a very particular taste can make use of the included blank texture and create your own unique liveries. Maybe you already have a fleet of aircraft all sharing the same design? With custom sounds and accurate flight dynamics, Alabeo have certainly created a faithful representation of this incredibly popular aircraft. And if you don't have a Cessna yet, this could be a great addition to your virtual hangar.

As always with Alabeo everything here is fantastic, even as a slightly older product this aircraft is still relevant! Really fun to fly, brilliant sound package and very nice visuals. Really good for both experienced and learner pilots, very smooth and forgiving. Fantastic all in all for me, another brilliant Alabeo plane in my hangar.
