In the 1930's, the British biplane fighter aircraft named the Hawker Fury was the bane of all enemy aircraft. Climbing at 2400 feet per minute and surpassing speeds of 200 miles per hour in level flight; the Fury amazed as it set new paradigms with it's speed and manoeuvrability.
The hero of the Battle of Britain, the Hawker Hurricane, was responsible for 60% of the Royal Air Force's air victories, as well as serving in all other major operations during the Second World War. As such, many believe it represents the epitome of fighter planes.
Designed as an interceptor and replacement for the Hurricane, the Hawker Typhoon, instead set itself apart as a fierce ground attack aircraft. Armed with 60 lb RP-3 rockets, this impressive aircraft was a guardian angel to those on the Normandy beaches.
One of the most powerful fighter aircraft used during the Second World War, the Hawker Tempest, was introduced in January of 1944. It's excellent performance at low altitude, made it the preferred weapon choice against flying bombs launched against London in June of the same year.
For Flight Simulator X owners, this package also includes some break-neck missions that offer the chance for all the 'ace pilots' to test their mettle in these awesome machines. Relive some of the incredible moments that made them such a huge part of 20th century warfare and landed them in the history books.
