Miles Magister for FSX/FS2004

Miles Magister for FSX/FS2004

The team at First Class Simulations have released the Miles Magister, available as an instant download and compatible with Microsoft FSX and FS2004. The Miles Magister won't put any strain on your computer; if your system can handle the Flight Simulator it can handle this aircraft. The small download size also means that you don't need to worry about taking up hard drive space. This package contains a livery for the Royal Air Force c.1941 and the Czech Air Force c.1941. While it is difficult to find exact matches to these liveries, it is possible to find some that are indeed, very close. On the whole, this rendition of the Miles Magister is visual accurate; true to it's real world counter part in size, dimensions and and surface detail. Read more...

It features completely unique sounds that set it apart from anything else in your Flight Sim hangar, even compared to aircraft from the same era such as the Spitfire and the Hurricane, to which this was the training aircraft. It's sparse interior may at first seem lacking, but is more than acceptable for an aircraft of this era. Featuring both a 2D and 3D cockpit panels adds more diversity to how you want to fly. But each panel has different instruments, as well as different layouts and backgrounds, so you may end up switching between them more through necessity than desire. The only compass sits in the 2D instrument panel, and there are no Comm, Nav radios or GPS to speak of. Maintaining the authentic feel of an aircraft of the 1930's and 1940's, but making navigating very challenging, especially for someone who may be used to all the bells and whistles. Nevertheless, it is a relatively straightforward aircraft to learn to fly.

Once in the air the Magister handles like a WWII fighter. You can effortlessly throw it around in loops and rolls, climbs and dives don't offer much resistance either. What appear to be generalised flight dynamics, are perhaps not perfectly accurate to the Miles Magistrate but definitely close to how one would expect an aircraft of this calibre to be. It requires constant hands on, as you will find no autopilot. Elevator trim will help you out but without a rudder trim you will find yourself constantly fighting against the torque. Never a dull moment with this one.
